Terms of Service

LAST UPDATED 22 OCTOBER 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SemiEvents, the passport to the semiconductor industry. Please read them carefully. By creating an account, or by otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. About us and these terms

SemiEvents (the "Platform") is operated by Imersifi Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales. The Platform was developed in partnership with Swansea University to support outreach across the semiconductor industry.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and us. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organisation, you accept these Terms both for yourself and on behalf of that organisation, and "you" includes that organisation.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not create an account or use the Platform.

2. Definitions

  • Attendee — an individual who creates a personal account to collect stamps and take part in events.
  • Organisation — a company, university, institution or other body registered on the Platform to publish events and engage with Attendees.
  • Organisation User — an individual who has access to an Organisation's workspace on the Platform.
  • Semi Passport or Passport — the digital passport attached to an Attendee account, identified by a unique passport number, that records the stamps an Attendee has collected.
  • Stamp or Badge — a digital collectible awarded to an Attendee for engaging with an Event, typically by scanning the Event's QR code.
  • Event — an in-person or virtual event listed on the Platform by an Organisation.
  • Campaign — an email sent by an Organisation through the Platform to Attendees who have opted in to hear from that Organisation.
  • Content — any text, images, logos, ratings, comments, event details or other material submitted to the Platform by a user.

3. Eligibility and age

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Children under 13 are not permitted to use the Platform, and we will delete any account we discover belongs to a child under 13.
  • If you are under 18, you should review these Terms and our Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian, and have their permission before creating an account.
  • Organisation Users must be at least 18 years old and must have the authority to bind the Organisation they register or manage to these Terms.
  • You must not use the Platform if you have previously been banned from it, or if doing so would breach any law that applies to you.

4. Your account and security

  • You must give accurate, current and complete information when you register, and keep it up to date.
  • Each account is personal to one individual. You must not share your account, create accounts for other people without their permission, or create multiple Attendee accounts to collect additional stamps.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Use a strong password that you do not use elsewhere.
  • Tell us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
  • We may refuse a registration, or require you to change a username or other account detail, where we reasonably believe it is misleading, offensive or infringes someone else's rights.

5. The attendee service

An Attendee account is free. It lets you:

  • hold a Semi Passport with a unique passport number;
  • scan an Event's QR code (using your device camera) to claim that Event's Stamp;
  • rate Events and leave optional written feedback for the Organisation that ran them;
  • choose to follow Organisations and, if you wish, allow specific Organisations to contact you by email;
  • browse upcoming Events and Organisation pages; and
  • install the Platform to your device's home screen as a web app.

Stamps and Badges are digital collectibles only. They have no monetary value, cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged, and do not on their own confer any qualification, accreditation, entitlement to employment, internship or other opportunity. We may correct or remove Stamps that were claimed in breach of these Terms or in error.

Whether you allow an Organisation to contact you is entirely your choice. Contact permission is off by default, is given separately for each Organisation, and can be withdrawn at any time from your Contact preferences page.

6. Organisation accounts

  • Registration and review. When you register an Organisation it is created with a pending status and reviewed by us. You may set up your workspace while pending, but your Events will not appear publicly until we approve the Organisation. We may approve, decline, request further information about, suspend or reactivate any Organisation at our discretion.
  • Accuracy. You must ensure that your Organisation's details, logo, description and Event information are accurate, lawful, not misleading and kept up to date, and that you have the right to use any names, logos or images you upload.
  • Your users. You are responsible for everyone you give access to your Organisation's workspace, for their compliance with these Terms, and for removing access promptly when it is no longer needed.
  • Analytics. The Platform gives you engagement analytics for your Events, such as scan counts, stamp claims, ratings and aggregated demographic breakdowns, and shows you the names of Attendees who claimed a Stamp or left feedback at your Events. You must use this information only to run, evaluate and improve your outreach activities, and in line with data protection law.
  • Suspension. A suspended Organisation loses access to its workspace and its Events may be hidden from public view until reactivated.
  • Fees. The Platform is currently provided free of charge. If we introduce paid features we will tell you in advance and you will not be charged unless you agree.

7. Events and third-party registration

  • Events are organised by the Organisations that list them, not by us. We are not a party to any arrangement between you and an Organisation and we are not responsible for how an Event is run, its content, venue, safety, accessibility, cancellation, rescheduling or anything said or done at it.
  • The Platform does not sell tickets or take payments. Where an Event offers registration, the "register" link takes you to a website operated by the Organisation or a third party. Your use of that website is governed by its own terms and privacy notice, and we are not responsible for it.
  • Event details are supplied by Organisations. While we take reasonable steps to keep the Platform accurate, we do not guarantee that Event information (including dates, times, locations and links) is complete or correct. Please check with the Organisation before travelling.
  • Organisations are solely responsible for complying with all laws that apply to their Events, including health and safety, safeguarding (especially where young people attend), equality and accessibility laws.

8. Email campaigns and contacting attendees

If your Organisation sends Campaigns through the Platform, you agree that:

  • Campaigns will only be delivered to Attendees who have actively given your Organisation permission to contact them and have not withdrawn it. You must not try to obtain, infer or use any Attendee's contact details outside that permission.
  • Every Campaign must be relevant to your Organisation's outreach, events, careers or educational activities; must clearly identify your Organisation; and must not be misleading, defamatory, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or contain malware or harmful links.
  • You are responsible for the content of your Campaigns and for complying with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) in relation to them. For the purposes of the content and purpose of each Campaign you act as an independent controller.
  • We may set a monthly sending limit for each Organisation, may disable Campaigns for an Organisation, and may decline to send, or stop sending, any Campaign we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or the law.
  • Every Campaign includes a link that lets the Attendee manage or withdraw contact permission. You must not remove, hide or interfere with it.
  • You must not sell, rent, share or otherwise disclose to anyone any information about Attendees obtained through the Platform.

9. Your content

  • You keep ownership of the Content you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, adapt (for example, resize or reformat) and distribute your Content for as long as is needed to operate, promote and improve the Platform. For Organisations, this includes displaying your name, logo and Events on public pages of the Platform and in promotional material about the Platform.
  • Ratings and written feedback you leave for an Event are shared with the Organisation that ran it. Do not include personal information about yourself or others in feedback comments that you would not want that Organisation to see.
  • You confirm that you own, or have permission to use, all Content you submit and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
  • We do not pre-screen Content but may review, refuse, edit or remove any Content that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or is otherwise harmful.

10. Acceptable use

You must not, and must not help anyone else to:

  • claim Stamps for Events you have not genuinely engaged with, including by sharing, publishing, copying, forging or automating QR codes or scan links;
  • impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
  • upload or send anything unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, hateful or discriminatory, or that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • send spam or unsolicited communications, or use the Platform to harvest personal data;
  • scrape, crawl, data-mine or copy the Platform or its content by automated means without our written permission;
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Platform, or breach or circumvent any security, rate limiting or access controls;
  • introduce viruses, malware or other harmful code, or interfere with or overload the Platform's infrastructure;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code of the Platform except as permitted by law; or
  • use the Platform in any way that breaks the law or these Terms.

11. Intellectual property

The Platform, including its software, design, the SemiEvents and Semi Passport names and logos, stamp and badge artwork, and all other materials we provide (excluding user Content), belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Platform for its intended purpose in line with these Terms. No other rights are granted.

If you send us ideas or suggestions about the Platform, we may use them freely without any obligation to you.

12. Availability and changes to the Platform

  • We aim to keep the Platform available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free. We may suspend access for maintenance, security or operational reasons.
  • We are continually developing the Platform and may add, change or remove features at any time. Where a change materially reduces the service you receive, we will try to give you reasonable notice.
  • Some features may be marked as beta or experimental and may not work as expected.
  • You are responsible for the devices, internet connection and camera access needed to use the Platform.

13. Suspension, termination and account deletion

  • By you. You can stop using the Platform at any time. Attendees can permanently delete their account from the account settings page. Deleting your account erases your profile, Passport, Stamps, feedback and contact permissions, as described in our Privacy Policy. Organisation Users can contact us to close an Organisation.
  • By us. We may suspend or terminate your account, or an Organisation's access, with immediate effect if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your use puts other users, us or the Platform at risk. Where appropriate we will tell you why. We may also close accounts that have been inactive for a long period after giving notice.
  • Effect. When your account ends your right to use the Platform stops. Sections that by their nature should survive (including sections 9, 11, 14, 15, 16 and 19) will continue to apply.

14. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided free of charge and on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied conditions, warranties and terms. We do not endorse any Organisation or Event, and nothing on the Platform is career, educational, financial or professional advice. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

15. Limitation of liability

  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales.
  • If you are an Attendee using the Platform as a consumer: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We only provide the Platform for domestic and private use and are not liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
  • If you are using the Platform on behalf of an Organisation: we will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, data or anticipated savings, whether arising in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise. Our total liability to an Organisation in connection with the Platform in any 12-month period is limited to £100.
  • We are not responsible for Events, for the acts or omissions of Organisations or other users, or for any third-party websites linked from the Platform.
  • We are not liable for any delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control.

16. Indemnity (organisations)

If you use the Platform on behalf of an Organisation, the Organisation agrees to indemnify us against all losses, damages, costs (including reasonable legal fees) and claims arising from its Events, its Content, its Campaigns, its breach of these Terms or its breach of data protection or electronic marketing law.

17. Privacy and data protection

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and your rights. Organisations must comply with applicable data protection law in relation to any personal data they receive through the Platform.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Platform or the law. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when they were last revised. If we make material changes we will give you reasonable notice, for example by email or a notice on the Platform, before they take effect. If you continue to use the Platform after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Platform and delete your account.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.

20. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Platform.
  • Severability. If any provision is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
  • No waiver. If we delay or do not enforce any right, we have not waived it.
  • Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation; we will tell you if this affects your rights. You may not transfer yours without our written consent.
  • Third parties. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
